Changes to Waste and Recycling Collections in Stambourne for 2026/27
Updated collections, clearer recycling rules, and a few new services coming to our village
New collection calendar »

Check the new collection calendar carefully, especially around bank holidays when collection days may change.
Braintree District Council has introduced some changes to waste and recycling collections as part of the Government’s new “Simpler Recycling” scheme. The aim is to make recycling easier and more consistent across the country.
Most households will continue using separate bins for general waste, food waste, paper and card, and mixed recycling, but the Council has updated its guidance on what can go in each bin.
There are also some updates to additional services. Bulky waste collections for larger household items can still be booked through the Council, and an Absorbent Hygiene Product (AHP) collection service is available for eligible residents who need extra support.
The Council says the changes should make recycling simpler and help more waste to be recycled from home. Residents can also use the Council’s online “My Account” service to check collection dates, report missed bins, and manage waste services online.
Further information about the new waste and recycling arrangements can be found on the Braintree District Council website.
